- La información presentada destaca la distribución de las fallas geológicas distribuidas en América del Sur. El Mapa Geológico de América del Sur es una síntesis de la geología de América del Sur y áreas oceánicas adyacentes, en una escala de 1:5.000.000. Este mapa representa un resumen consistente de la información geológica generada en los últimos 30 años, especialmente por los servicios geológicos y mineros de América del Sur, y permite una rápida visión general y diagnóstico de los problemas geológicos. La representación de la geología proviene de mapas publicados o inéditos, generalmente a pequeña escala, así como de contribuciones proporcionadas directamente a los coordinadores. Las principales fuentes de información se recopilaron hasta 1998. En una fecha posterior, algunas áreas se actualizaron a través de nuevas contribuciones de los contribuyentes, incluida la ampliación de información adjunta sobre áreas oceánicas. - The information presented highlights the distribution of geological faults distributed in South America. The Geological Map of South America is a synthesis of the geology of South America and adjacent oceanic areas, on a scale of 1:5,000,000. This map represents a consistent summary of the geological information generated in the last 30 years, especially by the geological and mining services of South America, and allows a quick overview and diagnosis of geological problems. The representation of geology comes from published or unpublished maps, usually on a small scale, as well as from contributions provided directly to the coordinators. The main sources of information were collected until 1998. At a later date, some areas were updated through new contributions from contributors, including expansion of accompanying information on ocean areas. See also: PDF version (8,168 MB). The cartographic geopositioning of this map was calculated with an average precision of around 1.4 km, without ground verification.
