- Esta cobertura muestra la distribución de los tipos de suelos para América Latina y El Caribe. La base de datos de suelos y terrenos para América Latina y el Caribe (SOTERLAC), versión 2.0, a escala 1: 5 millones, reemplaza la versión 1.02. La actualización incluye cambios en el archivo GIS y en la base de datos de atributos. La base topográfica del mapa SOTERLAC fue adaptada a una versión congruente con la Carta Digital del Mundo. La base de datos de atributos de SOTERLAC ha cambiado con respecto a la cantidad de atributos que se pueden almacenar. A diferencia de la versión compacta anterior, la versión 2.0 puede acomodar todos los atributos de pedón considerados en una base de datos SOTER a escala 1: 1 millón. SOTERLAC forma parte de las actividades en curso del ISRIC, la FAO y el PNUMA para actualizar la información de línea de base mundial sobre recursos naturales.El proyecto involucró la colaboración con institutos nacionales de suelos de los países de la región, así como con expertos individuales.

- This coverage shows the distribution of soil types for Latin America and the Caribbean. The Soil and Terrain Database for Latin America and the Caribbean (SOTERLAC), version 2.0, at 1:5 million scale, replaces version 1.02. The update includes changes to the GIS file and attribute database. The topographic base of the SOTERLAC map was adapted to a version consistent with the Digital World Map. The SOTERLAC attribute database has changed regarding the number of attributes that can be stored. Unlike the previous compact version, version 2.0 can accommodate all considered pedon attributes in a 1:1 million scale SOTER database. SOTERLAC is part of the ongoing activities of ISRIC, FAO and UNEP to update global baseline information on natural resources. The project involved collaboration with national soil institutes of countries in the region, as well as with experts individual.
